Portland Juvenile Delinquency Defense Lawyer: Help — Not Jail Time
Over the years, I have learned that handling juvenile law and delinquency matters properly from the beginning gives your child the best chance of achieving a satisfactory resolution. Do not allow your children to talk to law enforcement officials without having an attorney present. Remember that everything you or your child says can be used in court.
Even if your child was involved in criminal activity, your child probably needs help, not jail time. You want to see your child get the help that he or she needs. We have helped many clients resolve criminal matters without jail time by getting them the help they needed, such as treatment or counseling.
What is Measure 11?
Measure 11 is an initiative that was passed by Oregon voters that allows prosecutors to try juveniles age 15 and up as adults for certain crimes, including robbery, assault and other violent crimes. A conviction for one of these crimes can bring a minimum of 70 months in a prison or detention center. Moreover, convictions for Measure 11 crimes are not expungeable nor sealed as juvenile offenses sometimes are. Protect your child from a permanent criminal record by seeking the advice of an experienced juvenile delinquency attorney as soon as possible. I may be able to prevent your child from being charged or convicted as an adult.
